In the last FOUR months...

Thanks to Kristin, you now have the privilege of an update of the last four months of our life! I was sure to include lots of pictures for the long wait.

August
Outer Banks, NC

In August we flew to NC and met up with Danny, Susan, Emily and KK (Kateyln). We rented a beach house and spent the week visiting light houses and laying out by the beach. The lighthouse above is Bodie Island Lighthouse and the one below is Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

It was so nice having our own pool in the back yard while in the Outer Banks. I loved it because there was no sand! On our last day, the pool turned green. We think the filter got clogged up and caused it to change colors. Eric and Danny decided that green was not a problem and jumped right in. KK thought this was funny and then wanted to also go swimming in the green pool.

September
My 27th (29th) Birthday Party!

For my 27th B-day I decided to have some girls over for a PJ party. Top row: Ember,
Ashley, Me, Kelly and Kristin. Bottom row: Jennifer and Lindsay.

So I really turned 27 but the joke is that mom can never remember how old I am and always pretends to think that I am older then I really am. Next year I will turn 30 in her book. Mom thought it would be cute to buy me candles that said 29. Happy Birthday to me.

Since boys were not invited to this party, Eric, Jimmy and Frank played tennis while the girls had some fun.

October
Halloween

This year for Halloween Bear was a fire hydrant and Zeke was a bunny rabbit. Zeke looks very unhappy here.

Eric and I took 2nd place at our Sunday School Annual Costume Party as the famous bacon and eggs combo. (We lost to a couple of Rednecks).

November
San Francisco

Eric and I traveled to CA for a install and then spent the rest of the weekend doing touristy stuff. We really enjoyed the cable cars and used them all day on Sunday.

Kristin approves of this picture. She tells me that it has an s-curve in it and I am in the lower right hand intersection of the rule of thirds. This Lombard Street the crookedest street in the world!

Muir Wood Forest. This great for my Science class when teaching them about growth rings. This is one OLD tree!

Thanks for looking and comments are a must after 4 months if anyone is reading this still!

Things that make me smile

As much as Eric and I are fans of bichons, I have a special place in my heart for birds. I grew up with birds so I always get a kick out of seeing them do or say cute things. Here are a couple of videos that I couldn't live without and one that reminded me of Eric. You decide which one it is :)

Enjoy. Some comments would be nice too ;)

Mexico and Other Travels

I know that most of you have been on the edge of your seat waiting for the pictures and highlights of our trip to Mexico. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed traveling with Jennifer and Joseph. We started off with a pretty big mix up about the resorts that Terrah, our travel agent (that we will never use or trust again) caused. As vacationers were finding their shuttles to take them to their various resorts, we learned that J & J were booked at another property an hour and a 1/2 away from ours! At this point on a Saturday, in Mexico, when the travel agency is closed and calls from a cell phone cost a stippling $2 a minute and $4 a minute from the resort, there was not much to do. After many phone calls and some frustration we decided to make the most of our day at our resort and trust that J & J were hitch hiking somewhere on their way.

* J & J took a taxi early the next morning and joined us for some fun in the sun by the pool. We did much eating over the course of our trip and all the food was great with 5 star presentation. Most of the restaurants are open air, covered and alot of them overlook a pool or the ocean.

*Snorkeling....Okay so I got brave this trip and I actually snorkeled!! The resort has something they call "beached whales" off shore. It is actually huge sand bags to help prevent erosion. These "whales" also help the waves to be more calm and Amy to be more brave. There where some times when Eric had to rescue me from a patch of seaweed or deep water but over all we had a great time. Eric and I saw a school of 2,000 fish. Even as we swam toward them, they would part for us but stay together. Eric described the experience as seeing "nothing but eyes" :)

*Candle light dinner on the beach- Since Eric and I are celebrating our first year of marriage the resort treated us to our very own candle light dinner on the beach. Our so called salad came out with one sheet of lettuce and one big ole lobster on it. Since and Eric and I are not seafood fans this was almost too much for me. Eyes and tentacles could have put me over the edge. Eric decides that he is going to dig a hole in the sand at his feet and drop the lobster in it. Who are we to look wasteful on what I'm sure was a very expensive "salad"? After Eric drops our clawed friend into the sand and covers him up, the thought occured to us that you are not supposed to clean your plate when eating lobster. Some various limbs should be left! Eric quickly asked for part of my lobster so that his would not look so suspicious. Our server never said anything and I don't know if our salad friend ever found his way out of the sand as beach seachers passed by the next few days. We got a kick out of it though. Here is a pic of us eating our dessert they created for us. It reads "Happy 1First Anniversary Daniel and Amy" (Daniel is Eric's 1st name). Take note that they did really write 1st with the entire word first next to the number one.

*St. Lucia- I think that we have decided to hold off on St. Lucia until Spring Break. It will give us something to look forward to in the cold months of Jan-March. That's all for now folks.

Polo Shirts and St. Lucia

Yep, Amy's finally gone over the edge!! I came home the other day and came to the door to find my wife Amy holding our two bichons, bear and zeke (in case you didn't know their names, it's only part of our extremely long web address). I then noticed that those two jokers were wearing POLO shirts...Bear in a red 3 button polo and zeke in a blue and white striped. I have to say they were pretty cute. We'll post some pics of them here in a sec.

Also, we have finally chosen our second vacation spot for the summer. After many many hours of searching and digging through various travel sites, Ol' Lips found the perfect hidden gem of the Caribbean. It's located on the northern coast of St. Lucia in a place called Gros Inlet. We'll be going there July 24th-31st. Here are some pics of this bad boy.

The Goose

Tonight Amy and I took our Bichons to Joe Farmer park here in Allen. We often times go to this spot because it is a nice contrast to the concrete that is most of the city of Allen. This park has a few ponds where ducks, geese, and the like gather. So there we were, bichons in hand, strolling along, and then suddenly, there was a boy chasing a goose. We thought that he was picking on it but in fact he was trying to help it because there was a fishing line tightly wrapped around its large orange leg leaving the bottom part of the leg purplish blue. So Ole' Lips came bounding to the rescue. First, I shifted to my abilities as a Duck Whisperer and calmed the fowl down. I caressed his long neck and then started digging out the fishing line. Within a matter of 5 minutes, I had the goose unbound and was massaging his leg to get the blood to circulate back to his extremity. I arose to a standing ovation with the galley waving banners, foam number one fingers, and American flags. What a night. Here is a picture of the type of goose that will swim for many more days because of my heroism.
